Article on MTV Desi

“I sat there in a Starbucks in midtown with visions of a bleak, distant future in my head. I’d spent the first half of the day listening to The Human Animal, the newest album from Android Lust, and I was about to meet the torture queen herself. Funny that she chose this place, of all settings. I was surrounded by people with glasses, shopping bags, laptops open on tables and fall coats hanging on chairs, and I was waiting for someone who may or may not have been draped in S&M attire. Her actual entrance wasn’t so shocking, but this was unmistakably my interview subject.”

Interview with FiXT

“Industrial, like every genre of music, is inhabited by artistic entities that organize into a recognizable strata, a king’s court of tiers or castes.

There are, of course, the monarchs, the godfathers - those alchemists who first threw reason to the wind, distilled disparate ethers, and brought something new into the world, or who at least codified the messy experiments of others and tended it through the years as a shepherd does his flock. These giants have progeny, those who were influenced by the first wave and added to the noise, fleshed out the constructs, gave volume to the movement - each finding their unique corner of the court to occupy, not achieving the raw creation of entirely new sounds but at least divining new iterations of a theme, carrying the genre beyond the scope of their fathers just a bit more, each time.”

Igloo Magazine reviews The Human Animal

‘The first few tracks, “Intimate Stranger,” “Rub Me Raw” and “Saint Over” open up the album in this black fist of determination and unveils a serious industrial grove of sound. One might say upon a few listens that Shikhee, the driving force behind Android Lust, has really touched a wild undergrowth with this disc (just listen to the track “It’s On You,” brimming with a freshness and power in the same instant).’

Sacramento Press reviews the Animalia Tour

"For its final encore song, the band brought out members from Mankind is Obsolete to play floor toms and close the evening with a bang. Even though Android Lust’s sound feels much darker than that of Mankind is Obsolete, the group of friends seemed to be truly enjoying their experience together and were able to give the audience a happy send-off and lighten the mood a little."

Coma Mag reviews the Milwaukee show

Here's an excerpt of what Coma Music Mag had to say about our show in Milwaukee on the Animalia Tour...

"Android Lust, now a 5-piece, were the tightest I’ve ever seen them. AL's players— Christopher Jon on keys/vox manipulation, Steve Kefalas on drums, Bret Calder on bass, James Light on guitar, and of course Shikhee on vocals, each had their own station on stage but had a connected energy I’d never witnessed before when they played. The rhythm section of Calder and Kefalas was so tight it drove the energy through the roof..."

Show review by The Current

Here's an excerpt of what The Current had to say about about show in St. Louis, the first stop on the Animalia Tour.

"New York's Android Lust plays a type of industrial-Goth-metal that fans of Trent Reznor, Maynard Keenan, Rob Zombie, Evanescence, and Marilyn Manson would appreciate. Android Lust landed in St. Louis at The Crack Fox, a small dingy, smoke filled, shoebox-sized club on Olive, the perfect place for a show of this type to take place."

The Human Animal reviews

Reviews for The Human Animal are starting to pour in. Here's a short list of a few of them.

"The Human Animal expands the musical boundaries explored by Shikhee's songs without spoiling their raw, dangerous beauty. The result is feels more organic and emotionally raw than a lot of her early output, and a cool progression in the Android Lust sound. It's still dark, complex, and disturbing, with a heavy undercurrent of sexual tension – I wouldn't want it any other way..."
FEARNet

"The Human Animal shows further development, maturation perhaps of an artist exploring the inner and outer self. It’s an album that triggers the urge to go back and load the stacker with the albums to date — this is the fourth studio LP — to track the ongoing journey of a remarkable talent."
Vampires in the Sunburnt Country

"From the first few moments of the opening track, Intimate Stranger, you know you're listening to an Android Lust album – Shikhee's voice is unmistakable – but the sound has taken on some dirtier, grungier blues tones, which maintains the aforementioned gothic moodiness but also gives it a more prominent and wickedly seductive edge. (You know you're hooked if you feel the urge to to sing a song like Rub Me Raw when out and about – it would be an interesting experiment to see how well other bus passengers would take to my vocal renditions of “Won't you smother me ’til I’m sick of you / Crush me ’til I scream for you / Rub me ’til I bleed for you / Rub me raw“. I’m sticking to humming it for now)."
Satellite For Entropy

"With The Human Animal, Android Lust has delivered her best, most complete work to date. She still manages to surprise even after more than a decade on the scene. Recorded with her live band for the first time, her sound seems nicely fleshed out but without compromising the studio integrity we have come to expect from her. This is still very much an electronic album and one of the most interesting of the year."

Interview on nighttimes.com

Since her debut record, 1998’s Resolution [Synthellec Music] Android Lust, A.K.A. Shikhee D’iordna, has offered listeners a singular brand of gothic, industrial electronica, featuring biting aggression and dark eroticism. Winning critical praise with 2003’s The Dividing [Projekt], and 2006’s Devour, Rise, and Take Flight [Project], Android Lust has been featured on television soundtracks, has toured extensively, and has produced two mind bending and stunningly beautiful music videos.

Android Lust - "The Human Animal" coming July 27th!

The Human Animal will have an exclusive pre-release only from androidlust.com on July 27th! It will be out worldwide Aug 10th. You can pre-order your copy starting July 22nd from our online store.

A journey through the psyche of man, as man realizes the futility of living in the grips of ego and surrenders to seek answers within.

The Human Animal is the fourth studio release from Android Lust, brainchild of NYC based singer/songwriter/producer Shikhee. It comes four years after the release of Devour, Rise and Take Flight, a track from which garnered a spot on the official Navy NCIS soundtrack album. The Human Animal sees Shikhee collaborating with her live band for the first time in a studio release, giving it an unexpected organic warmth while maintaining her trademark machine edge that cuts so uncomfortably if you dare to let it in.

Known for her uncompromising ear for fresh sounds, Shikhee scoured the NYC streets and subways with a portable recorder, collecting sounds that found their way as rhythmic and melodic elements throughout the album.

There is also a bonus remix of "God In The Hole" by Jerome Dillon (formerly of Nine Inch Nails, nearLY), and Anthony Baldino — an atmospheric opus that is a chilling end to the journey.

Tracklisting:
Intimate Stranger
Rub Me Raw
Saint Over
God in the Hole
It's on You
The Return
A New Heaven
Into the Sun
One World
Flow (of impermanence)
God in the Hole (version) - remix by Jerome Dillon and Anthony Baldino

ReGen magazine gives Resolution box set 5/5 stars

ReGen magazine says...

"For more than a decade, Shikhee has been stunning audiences as Android Lust through her unique style of industrial, wrought with sonic experimentation underscoring lushly melodic songwriting and intense lyrical themes. She's been referred to as a female equivalent to Trent Reznor - a valid comparison, although it thankfully does not diminish the impact of Shikhee's twisted musical visions, stemming from a singularly emotional perspective that ranges wider than the focused angst and rage of Nine Inch Nails and other industrial acts."
